| Steve-O, I have to agree with you. My best friend grew up in Aurora, and thankfully moved out of there a few years back. I grew up in Naperville and we have had many discussions about Aurora. It has a ton of crime. A cop once helped me when my car stalled in Aurora (I was 18) on the Eastside close to Aurora East H.S. and told me that girls from Naperville don't belong in Aurora and if he caught me over there again past the mall, he'd ticket me. He explained how unsafe it is. I already knew, but didn't want to argue. |

Plainfield is one of the fastest growing suburbs in the nation at this time, but will it ever reach the prosperous and coveted status of Naperville. No, Plainfield will NOT be the next Naperville. The building standards in the town are geared more for starter homes and newly weds than anything. I'm not saying Plainfield is bad, because its not and I love it to be honest, but it isn't nor will it ever be another Naperville. The next Naperville is going to be Homer Glen, New Lenox, Frankfort, Mokena, and the west side of Orland Park. All those towns are commited to building superior homes ranging in price from $400K-$2M+. Homer Glen I think stands to become by far the next not only Naperville, but Hinsdale. The town still has tons of land left in it, and about the only homes that are being constructed anywhere in the town are brick "mc mansion" type homes many of which are built by a builder known as "Mc Naughton" Go figure a mc mansion built by a Mc Naughton. |

| My issue with you Steve is, you make is sound like all parts of Aurora are bad and everything Naperville is good. You stereotype Aurora based on one section. I betcha you don't tell people from Stonebridge Subdivision that they live in the ghetto because they live in Aurora. BTW I live in Oakhurst Naperville is superficial, keep up with the Jones's where teenagers have no concept of personal responsibility. My daughter is the only one from her group of friends who actually work. The kids from Naperville travel to the west side of Chicago for drugs. I like the area then I don't. Its a love hate relationship I do go into the bad parts of Aurora. Guess what, I never get bothered. I do my grocery shopping at El Guero on Root Street, Cermak foods on Indian Trail and I do patronize the mexican boutiques. I never got harrassed. I know there are problems in the area. |

Ive never once said all of Aurora is bad. Stonebridge and White Eagle are VERY nice places to live, as is the whole Eola Road area as well as the far west side too. But too much of Aurora has too many problems for me to ever recommend the place to someone, especially if they have children. Ill agree that Naperville is also superficial, but being superficial doesnt invite crime and drugs or gangs (the stuff you find in Aurora). Naperville and Aurora have similar populations, but look at Naperville's crime stats compared to Aurora's....thatll tell you the whole story. You dont see armored SWAT trucks in Naperville like you do in Aurora. Ive also been through east Aurora many, many, many times and have never been bothered either, but would you wanna walk around there at night by yourself? Didnt think so. |

| Yes, those are very nice, but those are not the majority of what is going up in the town. Most of what is going up in the town are sided homes valued in price under $400K. Also I want to add that many of those homes you showed in your link are barely mc mansions or are big homes on tiny little lots where if you blow a fart in your living room, your neighbor next door will hear it. |

I live near Plainfield and drive through it on a daily basis, I have to disagree that most of what is going up there are less expensive sided homes. Sure, there are some of those, but there are also a TON of custom half a million dollar+ homes going up all over town as well. Nobody is arguing that Plainfield is currently as affluent as Naperville. Of course, Naperville is much more affluent and much more established. (Although Naperville itself is not all McMansions and has a wide variety of housing stock, ranging from entry level to huge mansions.) You just pay more for everything in Naperville because of its ammenities-top schools, great downtown, lots of dining and shopping options, and lots of employment opportunities. |

| Here is video footage of what much of the Plainfield homes look like. I don't see one home that isn't sided. Last edited by NYrules; 01-08-2008 at 02:12 PM.. |

Your friend probably lives in South Plainfield in the area near Caton Farm and 59, that is where many of the neighborhoods you describe and show in your video are located. Many of the more affluent Plainfield neighborhoods like Grand Parke, Sprink Bank, and Lakelands to name a few, are farther North in Plainfield. Naperville has plenty of areas with typical sided homes too, that doesn't mean it doesn't have many areas with custom McMansions as well. All I said is there are plenty of areas in Plainfield with custom McMansion type homes. Anyway, this is a silly argument. |

Anywho, Mc Naughton does build some fine quality very prestigous homes and his development firm has it's eyes set on Homer Glen, Mokena, and the west side of Orland Park. Here is a little of what you can expect to see being built in the towns I named. McNaughton Development Company | Single Family Homes
For Pete's sake, Ive seen HOUSES with gang grafitti on them all over the place. Its normal to see businesses all spray painted up in Aurora, but houses?!?!?!
